DRC: President Félix Tshisekedi speaks on the death of General Kahimbi

Barely returned to the country after his stay in the United States, the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi, has put back on the table the case of the death of General Delphin Kahimbi. He raised the thesis of death by hanging.

General Major Delphin Kahimbi, head of military intelligence, was found dead on February 28 in his residence the day after his suspension from duty. He was under investigation for the security of the country.

According to Jolino Makelele, government spokesman, Félix Tshisekedi spoke about this probability, Friday, March 6, at the weekly Council of Ministers. The evidence in the possession of the head of state clearly indicates " that it was a death by hanging, " said Jolino Makelele. However, this is not yet the final conclusion of the investigation which, at the request of the President of the Republic himself, must end quickly, in order to relieve the grieving family.

So what about the other version, the first version and the one of the heart attack heard on the day of the drama? That day, answering General Delphin Kahimbi's personal cell phone, the woman who presented herself as his widow, on behalf of Brenda Kahimbi, had repeated this version to several international media.

An independent investigation

The president Félix Tshisekedi indicates, according to the terms of the press release, "to have carried out an independent investigation, on the initiative of Monusco ", without further details.

The body of General Delphin Kahimbi is at the disposal of the military justice, reassured for his part the government spokesman who declared that the scientific police take part in the investigation.
