Faced with the threat of the coronavirus, African countries are mobilizing and preparing, even without having a case detected. But all that is not enough, believes the President of the Parliament, Doctor Haroun Kabadi : " We believe that faced with the imminent danger, these measures deserve to be reinforced. The National Assembly invites the government to ensure complete health surveillance of the national territory by setting up teams at all entry points in Chad, to develop awareness, but also, and above all, education of the population to better protect themselves against the spread of the virus . "
On the side of the Ministry of Public Health, we explain moving forward with the means available. In addition to the surveillance system at Ndjaména airport, which remains the main gateway, a mobile laboratory is available to carry out tests in any part of the territory.
" We are doing our best to mobilize African solidarity ," said the Minister of Health, Professor Mahmoud Khayal, who announces that discussions have been opened with representatives of countries that have already been affected by the coronavirus. This is the case of France which has a school in Ndjamena and of which many students are on holidays in France at the moment.
In Burundi, preventive quarantine and limited movement
Burundi in turn takes preventive measures. Health Minister Thaddée Ndikumana said no suspected cases have been identified yet, but all passengers from a list of affected countries will be quarantined. In addition, he recommends that Burundians limit their trips to these countries, while calling for calm.
In order to prevent the epidemic, coronavirus disease, all passengers from the following countries will be under strict quarantine for 14 days. These countries are China, South Korea, Iran, Italy, Germany, France, Japan and Spain. We also recommend that Burundian nationals limit travel to countries already affected by the coronavirus.
