Netflix comes with big names from Friday. The team behind cinema films such as Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon and Mile 22 has now created the action comedy Spenser Confidential . Mark Wahlberg again plays the lead role.

The Oscar-nominated actor can be seen as a former agent who has just been released from prison. Spenser's girlfriend no longer wants to see him, but former boxing coach and mentor Henry (Alan Arkin) strictly trains him to train amateur fighter Hawk (Winston Duke).

Against their will, the two men become roommates. However, they must work together when two former Spenser colleagues are murdered. The officer makes his way back into the criminal underworld of Boston.

The story of Spenser Confidential was loosely based on the book Wonderland by Ace Atkins. The direction is in the hands of Peter Berg, who cast Wahlberg in the lead for the fifth time in a row. It is the first time that the duo has made the move to Netflix. Earlier they made the war thriller Lone Survivor , disaster film Deepwater Horizon , police drama Patriots Day and the action thriller Mile 22 . The latter appeared in the cinema in 2018.
