On August 4, 2019, a twelve-year-old boy was reported missing on Värmdö. But it took almost a day for the police to start a search. After two days, the boy was found dead in a lake. The police were self-critical and a preliminary investigation into service failures was initiated.

The investigation is now closed, according to NVP. Chief Prosecutor Maria Sterup, at the Special Prosecution Chamber, does not see that any crime has been committed. None of the police officers who were on duty during the commencement phase are considered to have committed any crime.

But in his decision, the Chief Prosecutor writes that the documentation in the case is defective and that it has meant difficulties to follow the case's handling.
