The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) posted a Facebook ad calling to share information.

The advertising publication is accompanied by a photograph of the Soviet actor and musician Vladimir Vysotsky as captain of the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department, Gleb Zheglov, from the film “The meeting place cannot be changed.”

"Meeting place can not be Changed. We have something to talk about. We also love Vysotsky, ”is written in the photograph.

“Information provided by the FBI to the public is the most effective means of dealing with threats. If you have information that can help the FBI, we ask you to contact us, ”the signature says.

The link attached to the publication leads to the website of the counterintelligence program of the regional office of the FBI in Washington. There, in Russian and English, it is reported that a significant place in the provision of security by the US "plays information provided by the public."

“If you have information that can help the FBI in fulfilling the task assigned to it, please contact our regional office,” the site says. “You will be able to transmit information to us in a confidential atmosphere in full confidentiality.”

Recall that, according to Russian law, disclosure of valuable information threatens criminal liability. Such actions may fall under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - 283 (“Disclosure of state secrets”), 275 (“High treason”) and 276 (“Espionage”).

Such actions of the American special services can be called interference in the internal affairs of Russia, Oleg Morozov, member of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, is convinced.

“They are not at all embarrassed by this, they just consider it their norm to interfere in our internal affairs, in our political life, put pressure on us, the policy of sanctions is aimed at this,” he told RT. - This is an example, albeit not the most dangerous, of interference in our internal affairs and violations of our sovereignty. There are much more subtle, sophisticated, well-thought-out forms of interference in our affairs, which is being investigated by a commission of the Federation Council. And this call to "knock" on your country - you can, of course, call for it, but this is very not in the spirit of our people. "

Morozov also considers the selection of a shot from the film with Vladimir Vysotsky unsuccessful, since he "was a man of high moral and patriotic principles, and he certainly would not have" knocked "his country to a foreign state."

    Advertising campaign

This is not the first time that the FBI, resorting to the Russian language, has called on Facebook users to cooperate. In October 2019, the agency published three advertising publications at once - “Time to build bridges”, “Is it time for you to make your move?” and “For the sake of your future, for the sake of the future of your family,” while making a few mistakes.

These publications were reported by users living in the District of Columbia, where the American capital is located.

The head of the counterintelligence department of the Washington office of the FBI, special agent Alan Kohler, Jr., in an interview with CNN, said that the agency is acting in accordance with current legislation and "will continue to adapt investigation methods and propaganda to counter" the so-called "Russian threat."

“We can only note one thing: Russia has a large number of intelligence officers scattered across Russia's diplomatic missions around the world. They are actively working and pose a threat to the security of the United States and our allies, ”he said.

American intelligence agencies traditionally interfere in the internal affairs of other states, Vladimir Olenchenko, a senior fellow at the Center for European Studies at IMEMO RAS, said in a conversation with RT.

“They are not used to interfering, they are used to unceremonious treatment. Vysotsky is a part of Russian culture, we treat him with respect. Therefore, of course, (demonstrate. - RT ) unceremoniousness and peremptoryness, ”he stated.
