February 18, 2020 Another tile of the extraordinary Pompeii mosaic. Brought to light in 1933 and heavily damaged by the 1980 earthquake in Irpinia, the Casa degli Amanti reopens to the public for the first time in 40 years in Pompeii, the unique jewel of the archaeological site of Campania, the only one of which the second has been preserved almost completely plan.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Culture Franceschini who will be in Pompeii today to illustrate to the press the end of the safety work started in 2014 with the Grand Project, financed for the most part with European funds.

Three new domus have just been restored
In addition to that of the Lovers, the Casa della Nave Europa, which takes its name from a large graffiti engraved on one of its walls, and the Casa del Frutteto, with its phantasmagoric floral cubicles and one of the highest examples of garden painting, also reopen found in the city.

Franceschini: "Pompeii, history of rebirth"

The figures of the "Great Pompeii project"
A total expenditure of 92 million euros for 76 operations carried out in 5 years. Started in 2014 with 105 million euros coming 75% from European funding and 25% from national funds, the Great Pompeii project is completed with the safety of the archaeological structures of the ancient city.
