Interest in storing self-generated electricity at home is increasing among private individuals in the country. In Blekinge, two applications for storage aid were submitted to the County Administrative Board in 2018. In 2019, the number of applications rose to 23.

- There is a growing interest in storing the electricity it produces with its solar cells, rather than selling it. Then the electricity can be used at other times and the households can by extension supply themselves with electricity, says Pernilla Citrén, who is the manager for energy and housing support at the county administrative board in Blekinge.

"A technology for the future"

But even though interest in storing electricity at home has increased over the past year, only a small proportion of all households with solar cells choose to invest in storage. In 2019, approximately 400 private individuals in Blekinge applied for the County Administrative Board's sun protection support.

- Many people feel that investing in storage is expensive and that technology has not progressed far enough. But hopefully the technology can develop and in turn push down prices. This is a technology for the future, says Pernilla Citrén.
