The police intervened on Wednesday in Lithuania to release a woman locked in her bathroom by her husband. Her husband feared she was infected with the coronavirus, authorities said.

"A man and his two adult sons refused to let this woman out [...] after she told them she could be infected with the coronavirus," said the spokesman for the national police. She is said to have told her husband that she had been able to catch the virus by speaking with someone who had arrived from abroad.

A single contamination in Lithuania

"The police went there," said the spokesman. "There was no violence or complaints, so we called an ambulance. Local media reports said the woman had a negative test.

So far, only one case of contamination has been recorded in Lithuania, a Baltic country of 2.8 million people. He is a 39-year-old man who recently stayed in Verona, in northern Italy.
