This is stated in a statement by Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison.

“Foreign citizens (with the exception of persons permanently residing in Australia) who are now or will later be in the Republic of Korea will not be allowed to enter Australia within 14 days from the date of departure or transit through the territory of this country,” the statement states.

However, restrictions do not apply to Australian citizens; upon returning to the country, they must be placed in a two-week home quarantine.

It is noted that the ban on entry from South Korea is a continuation of the restrictive measures previously taken in relation to China and Iran in connection with the "high risk of further distribution of COVID-19 in Australia."

On February 1, Morrison announced that Australia denies entry to its territory for all arrivals from China, with the exception of its own citizens.

Reportedly, the number of infected COVID-19 in South Korea has reached 5766.
