EDIT: The trial which opens this Thursday in Rennes had been postponed on December 5 due to the mobilization of lawyers against the pension reform.

They are believed to have created and administered beinsport-streaming, a major sports streaming platform. Five people, arrested in June 2018, will be tried this Thursday before the specialized interregional jurisdiction of Rennes.

These five French, whose creator is domiciled in the Breton capital as well as four administrators, will have to answer in particular for unauthorized reproduction or distribution of programs, association of criminals, money laundering and tax evasion. The accused face a sentence of 10 years' imprisonment and a 750,000 euro fine. About 260,000 euros, bank accounts and real estate, were seized during their arrest.

500,000 visitors per month on the platform

In a press release, Canal +, which had filed a complaint with BeIn sports and RMC sports, explains that the platform "offered around twenty pirate sites, broadcasting in streaming many programs and live sporting events, coming from the main French sports broadcasters , and in total illegality ”.

According to the same source, during the last six months of activity, the sites of this platform were visited by nearly 500,000 Internet users per month, while the administrators paid themselves through the display of advertisements.

The platform was finally closed "on the injunction of the prosecution of Rennes," said Philippe Astruc, prosecutor of the Republic of Rennes.
