Manchester United pocketed the final ticket for the English Cup quarter-finals on Thursday by winning 3-0 on the field of the Derby County 2nd division team.
ManU made the difference in the first period with goals from Luke Shaw (33) and Odion Ighalo (41). The Nigerian striker increased the score in the second period to bring his total goals to three since arriving in England in January.
For his reunion with the club where he played from 2004 to 2017, Wayne Rooney, now 34 years old and coach-player of Derby, placed in the first period a superb free kick stopped with difficulty by Sergio Romeo.
But his team did not match the "Red Devils" who will face Norwich City in the next round which eliminated Tottenham on penalties (1-1, 3-2) on Wednesday.
