• Referendum on parliamentary cut, government indicates the date of 29 March

March 05, 2020: referendum on parliamentarians cut due to Coronavirus emergency. The Council of Ministers has decided to postpone the referendum on the cutting of parliamentarians, to a date to be defined. The CDM has given the green light to postpone the consultation on the cutting of parliamentarians. According to the Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, the postponement of the CDM is 'sine die'.

Minister D'Incà: postponed because information and campaign are needed

"The Government has deemed it appropriate to review the decision regarding the date of the referendum that was set before the health emergency, in order to ensure an effective electoral campaign for all political subjects and adequate information to citizens. Referendum procedures in Italy and abroad therefore they are suspended and will be renewed when a new date for the referendum is set. The law allows us to set the new date by March 23, 2020, on a Sunday between the 50th and 70th day following the 'indiction ": declares the Minister for Relations with Parliament Federico D'Incà.
