(Combating New Coronary Pneumonia) The 4th New Coronary Pneumonia Case Confirmed in Brazil Traveled to Italy

China News Agency, Sao Paulo, March 5th (Reporter Mo Chengxiong) The Brazilian Ministry of Health held a press conference on the 5th local time to announce that the fourth case of new crown pneumonia was diagnosed in Brazil that day. The patient is a 13-year-old girl living in São Paulo and has traveled to Italy and other countries.

The Brazilian Ministry of Health stated that the girl had a positive test for new crown pneumonia virus but did not show symptoms in the case. She is currently under quarantine observation at home.

Earlier in the day, the Brazilian Ministry of Health reported that the young girl was not identified as a patient with new coronary pneumonia because she was asymptomatic and did not meet Brazil's criteria for confirming new coronary pneumonia. However, the Brazilian Ministry of Health later changed the original decision to confirm the girl as a new confirmed case.

The girl recently traveled abroad, passing through Portugal and Italy, suffered ligament damage during the journey, and received medication at a hospital in Italy. She returned to Brazil on March 1 and went to the Beneficencia Portuguesa Hospital in São Paulo on the 3rd. That day, the girl's sample was positive for the first nucleic acid test in the Fleury laboratory in São Paulo. On the 4th, the second test result at the Adolfo Lutz Institute designated by the Brazilian government was also positive.

The Brazilian Ministry of Health said that the girl's medication may have suppressed symptoms or that the patient may remain in the virus' incubation period for up to 14 days. According to expert analysis, the girl was thought to be infected with the virus while traveling in Italy, and patients may develop symptoms caused by the new crown pneumonia virus in the next few days.

As of now, there are 4 confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in Brazil, all of which are residents of São Paulo and have recently visited Italy and other countries. (Finish)
