Greta Thunberg is in Brussels on Wednesday. Very rare honor, the young activist will participate in the weekly meeting of the European Commission on the occasion of the presentation of the climate law. At the microphone of Europe 1, the environmental MEP Marie Toussaint denounces a disappointing text.

Young pro-climate activist Greta Thunberg will attend the European Commission meeting and the presentation of the climate law in Brussels. This must leave a mark on the Union's climate objectives. Interviewed by Europe 1, the environmental MEP Marie Toussaint points out the weaknesses of the text. She hopes to see Greta Thunberg "shake" the European leaders.

Take action

"This is not yet a law that meets the challenges", denounces Marie Toussaint. Focusing on the objective displayed by the law of carbon neutrality by 2050, she continues: "The IPCC tells us that it is in the next ten years that we must completely transform our model of society . Now, there is nothing, or so little, towards the 2030 objectives within this climate law. "

The MEP hopes that the presence of the young Swedish activist in Brussels will speed up the European Commission's action on climate change. "Some may use his presence as a stooge to say 'we receive Greta Thunberg' but doing nothing behind it is not enough. I think Greta Thunberg is not satisfied with the words which are not followed by 'action."
