The theft occurred overnight to Sunday. The thieves entered the property to first turn off the water and then take the new copper pipes with them, according to the newspaper Hem & Hyra.

"I've never been to anything like this before," says Gerd Sahlberg, manager at Kfast, which owns the apartment building.

One tenant noticed that the water was off first at 6 o'clock on Sunday morning and heard from Securitas.

Water tanks for residents

At first, it was believed that the fault was due to the trunk renovation that the property is undergoing. It was not until about 17 o'clock that copper thieves were discovered on the move, and the real estate company reported the crime to the police.

- Water tanks were run out to the residents in the evening, but on Monday the water was up again, though in temporary pipes, says Gerd Sahlberg.
