It started two years ago. Various authorities such as the police, the environmental administration, the social administration and the Swedish Tax Agency began to cooperate and raid together. Last year, a total of 150 such efforts were made - some new, second visits.

Lena Åkesson, head of environmental management, is pleased with the outcome.

- It has been very rewarding. We have been useful when we can take a holistic view of the activities we inspect, ”she says.

Illegal accommodation

Something Lena Åkesson is particularly pleased about is that the authorities revealed several illegal accommodation, people who lived in industrial premises, restaurants and shops.

- The emergency services specifically pointed to the lack of fire safety. If it started to burn, no one knew there were people living there.

- We must be sure that no new people move in, says Lena Åkesson, Head of Department at the Environmental Management in Helsingborg. Photo: Winnie Gravlund

Continues to collaborate

The authorities continue to keep track of this year, too.

- We have to be sure that no new ones move in. It can be difficult to get a home and sometimes the workforce lives where you work. In some cases it was about black jobs, says Lena Åkesson.

And the authorities continue to cooperate.

- We have a joint planning and discussion with the other authorities, we do this together, says Lena Åkesson.
