"They think you are stupid in your head just because you are over 70, I wonder if they could do this to their own grandmother and grandfather too, that's almost how I think it," says Berit Larsson.

Friendly man

She is upset about the move and wants to warn others. She herself called the phone number that was in the SMS and asked what it was all about and was met by a friendly young man who wanted to help her make the fraud attempt against her account. Thousands of dollars were being transferred from her account via swish, the man claimed.

The longer the conversation went on, the more suspicious Berit became and when the man began to ask for her credit card number she understood that it was all a scam.

Post information

Later it was clear that the same text message was sent to a large number of people in the Avesta area and Berit has a concrete advice to give:

- I think that relatives and the home service of the elderly should put out paper next to the elderly's phones, where it is clear that the bank and the police never call or want information via the phone.
