They were to return to Stockholm at the end of February. Keymar Tatar, Asal Raoufi and their 14-year-old daughter.

But the sudden outbreak of the corona virus meant that their flight with Qatar Airways was canceled.

- The earliest flight I could find was with Iran Air on March 4, but now it is also canceled, says Keymar Tatar.

Immediate effect

On Monday, the Swedish Transport Agency decided to immediately withdraw the permit from Iran Air to fly from Iran to Sweden.

- It comes as a shock. I have followed the reporting closely and in recent days Sweden has said that they are well prepared and that the situation is under control, says Keymar Tatar.

The swift decision came after the Public Health Authority called for this to reduce the spread of the new corona virus in Sweden. This is because the Public Health Authority considers that the Iranian authorities do not have control over the situation, a press release states.

Over 1,500 infected

According to official figures from Iran, 66 people have died from the corona virus in the country and 1,501 cases of infection have been confirmed. But many fear that there is a great darkness.

- We are worried and don't even dare to leave the house. We have stayed indoors for more than a week, says Keymar Tatar.

The Foreign Ministry writes that about a hundred Swedes have reported their presence in Iran on the embassy's Swedish list, but that they fear that the total number is considerably larger.

Last week, the Foreign Ministry had stated in an e-mail to Ekot that there may be 2,000-3,000 Swedish citizens currently in Iran.

- I have been at the Swedish embassy in Tehran for a few days and have had contact with the Foreign Ministry. Then I got the impression that if there were any flight problems, they would help us stay here, says Keymar Tatar.

No help

The Foreign Ministry recommends late Monday afternoon from all trips to Iran. In an email from the press service to SVT News it says:

“At present, there are no plans to make any assisted return home from Iran. At present, it is considered possible to leave Iran if, as an individual, it is decided to do so, even though we have a deep understanding that it will be more difficult.

"If the situation is so serious in Iran and the authorities here are not considered credible, Sweden should take even greater responsibility in bringing home its citizens who are in this," says Keymar Tatar.
