Haiti: a new Prime Minister appointed by President Jovenel Moïse

Another new Prime Minister in Haiti, President Jovenel Moïse has instructed Joute Joseph to form a new opening government. Haiti is plunged into a serious institutional, humanitarian and security crisis, since the resignation in March 2019 of Prime Minister Jean-Henry Céant.

Following consultations I had with different sectors of the country, I chose citizen Joute JOSEPH as the new Prime Minister, who is called upon to form, as soon as possible, a GVT of openness and consensus, capable to respond to urgent emergencies.

And he will not do it either this time since Parliament has lapsed since January 13, due to the lack of legislative elections organized in due time. The Haitian daily Le Nouvelliste emphasizes that the appointment of Joute Joseph therefore comes " outside constitutional standards ".
Jovenel Moïse, sole master on board
President Jovenel Moïse is the only master on board without any checks and balances. And this while he has been hotly contested on the street in recent months due in particular to his alleged involvement in a large corruption scandal.
This deep political crisis aggravates the economic crisis. According to the World Food Program, a third of Haitians are food insecure.
At the same time, the security situation has also dangerously worsened, with the resurgence in recent weeks of kidnappings for ransom . According to Haitian media, this weekend again, 18 people were killed in Haiti.
