March 02, 2020 The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, today announced the launch of a task force for Europe to address the coronavirus emergency. Among its members also the EU Commissioner for Economic Affairs, Paolo Gentiloni.

"The level of danger has now gone from moderate to high," said von der Leyen. The European Commission will also inaugurate a new website where it will be possible to read and investigate all the main news about coronavirus within the European Union.

During his speech, Gentiloni said that "it is time to understand that the EU is ready to use all the policy options available if and when necessary". Gentiloni added: "This is the moment of solidarity, of trust, of action".

Other EU commissioners will also be part of the task force: Janez Lenarcic, for crisis management, Ylva Johansson, for internal affairs, Adina Valean, for transport, and Stella Kyriakides, for health and food safety.
