Ralf Flanders, store manager at Stora Coop in Bromma in Stockholm - Sweden's largest Coop store - describes the situation on Saturday as extreme.

- Sales of dry goods such as pasta, rice and various types of canned food increased by 60 percent. It's absolutely incredible, he says.

The store has not yet calculated the sales figures on Sunday.

- But it really became super clear on Saturday, says Flanders.

"Did not participate in anything like that"

At one of the larger Ica stores in the Stockholm area, similar goods have gone down considerably more than usual.

- I haven't been to anything like it before. There has been a lot of powdered milk, it has been out all weekend. Also canned - beans, sausages and vegetables, says an employee of the store.

- It is very cleansed, it started on Thursday. Customers have pointed out that they want to bunk up because of the corona virus.

- You see it with the naked eye that people have picked out. It is very specific: canned meat, rice and pasta. Everything that is preserved and dry has gone. It was already noticed on Thursday so we were prepared. In stock there is everything, we just can not fill at the same pace as it ends.

Shop in Mölndal: People wonder what happened

Outside Stockholm, too, there are slightly more empty shelves, on Willys Sisjön in Mölndal, says team manager Niklas Witehall.

Have you been to this before?

- We have Christmas once a year, but then there are some other goods ... It will make a big difference when a little, a little more decides to buy a little, a little more, says Niklas Witehall continues:

- People have thought it was empty on the shelves and wondered what happened. Still, things have calmed down. It's a payday, too, it does.
