Luis Lacalle Pou has not yet been sworn in as President of the Republic that he is already under pressure from the social partners. In question, the first text that his right-wing coalition intends to have voted in Parliament. The "law of urgent consideration" has more than 450 articles and addresses subjects as diverse as security, taxation, labor law or education.

This bill is already rejecting unions from these different sectors. Education professionals in particular have announced three strike days, the first on March 12.

A power relationship installed at the outset due to the very nature of this text. Unions criticize the use of a constitutional provision that requires Parliament to vote on the bill within three months, failing which it will be approved automatically. According to them, the law is too dense and too important to be examined in an emergency.

While the project also plans to restrict the right to strike, the mandate of the one who will officially become the new president of Uruguay in a few hours therefore begins in a context of social conflict.
