Stephen Curry's return to competition, originally announced for Sunday four months after his left hand fracture, was finally postponed until later in March, the NBA Golden State franchise said on Saturday.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said a week ago that his star was likely to replay against Washington on Sunday. A slightly hasty prediction in the end.

"Stephen Curry continues to make good progress and remains on schedule for a return at some point in March," said the franchise statement on his Twitter account.

"He is now participating in opposition training and is scheduled to do a session on Monday with the Santa Cruz Warriors," the reservist team for Golden State said.

Curry, 31, broke his left hand in the Warriors' fourth game against Phoenix on October 30. A blow which definitively sealed the current exercise of Golden State, finalist these last five seasons and titled in 2015, 2017 and 2018.

Because in addition to the long absence of their double MVP from the regular seasons 2015 and 2016, the Warriors are deprived for the whole season of Klay Thompson, victim of a tear of the cruciate ligaments of the left knee during the last finals lost against Toronto.

In the off-season, they also deplored the departure of Kevin Durant to Brooklyn, where he has not yet played either because he is in rehabilitation after a rupture of an Achilles tendon.

Golden State points to two-thirds of the championship in last place in the Western Conference, with the worst record in the League, 12 wins for 47 defeats.
