According to the text of the GOST, with which RT got acquainted, we are talking about the sale of drinking water in special machines, from which you can draw water into your container.

Experts conventionally divide such automatic machines into two types - for selling imported water (for example, from artesian wells) and for water from a centralized water supply system after additional processing.

The standard establishes requirements and rules for the production of draft water, its transportation, sale in automatic machines and the subsequent control of its quality, explained RT in the press service of Rosstandart.

In particular, the GOST states that drinking water sold in special machines should not contain sugar, sweeteners, flavorings and other food substances, with the exception of mineral salts.

Machines with draft water should be located in a convenient place, they should display (for example, on a special display) all information about the water - its composition, price, manufacturer, bottling date, shelf life, and more.

The cleanliness and serviceability of the machine and its internal mechanism (tanks, hoses, etc.) should be regularly checked by the seller.

It will be possible to purchase water in such a machine for cash or using a non-cash payment terminal.

As explained by RT at the Association of Drinking Water Producers for bottling (the organization is the initiator of the development of GOST), the standard was created due to the fact that earlier in Russian legislation there were no uniform requirements for the production and sale of bottled water.

“In Russia, such an approach to drinking water consumption has existed for more than 15 years. In recent years, bottled water has become popular in many regions of the country. According to various estimates, the number of such machines in Russia is from 10 to 15 thousand, ”the Association said.

The organization also noted that drinking water consumption is economical for consumers, and also reduces the amount of plastic waste.

“In addition, in the event of local emergencies, such machines become a backup source of clean drinking water,” experts say.

It is also noted that the use of GOST is voluntary.

Earlier, the Accounts Chamber spoke about the access of Russians to clean drinking water.
