A hundred municipal officials of Estepona threaten to go to court after the City Council has rejected its request to re-collect the salary supplement that rewards punctuality and not miss the job. A plus, similar to an extra payment, whose suppression has been endorsed by a court and which, if only paid to the agents, would mean a break in the coffers of half a million euros.

The CSIF union, majority in the Consistory and which leads this requirement, disseminated a communication among the staff in which it stated that "this salary supplement was created by the City Council itself to partially wipe out the loss of purchasing power of municipal employees, which year after year they saw how their salaries were still frozen , but the CPI skyrocketed. "

"A large part of the economic efforts have been charged to the payroll of municipal officials ," who "should feel less responsible for political excesses," explained the union center to confront the justification of the local government team, which defended that these supplements were eliminated by the delicate economic situation of the Consistory after inheriting 300 million euros of debt .

In addition, he denounced "the smear campaign towards certain remuneration formulas" used by workers "to compensate for decades of wage freezes" and includes these bonuses within social benefits.

Municipal sources explained that the claims are around 5,000 euros for each official, most of them local police, so they estimate they would have to pay around half a million euros.

The City Council, however, has dismissed them and is reassured by the fact that this claim finally jumps to the judicial field , since they consider that the reason is on their side and that the courts will ratify it again.

It must be remembered that CSIF re-formulates this requirement despite the fact that a court has already given the reason to the City Council and considered the suppression of some bonuses that, some consider a covert extra payment, and others a supplement to correct the "low" municipal salaries.

This resolution, issued on December 3 by the Social Court number 9 of Malaga, and which this newspaper realized, lay down the demand of a municipal employee who occupies a musician position and who demanded the payment of 1,465, 98 euros for punctuality and absenteeism supplements .

The judicial authority recalled in its ruling that the Consistory and the workers' representatives agreed in 2011 to abolish these supplements, which amounted to an initial amount of 1,300 euros per year, which would be subtracted from the amount corresponding to each delay or lack.

The parties met again in 2013 and, after concluding that the situation of the municipal coffers was still very complicated , they decided to extend this measure of cost containment for another two years. Not being denounced by any of those involved, the agreement and its modifications were extended. A dynamic that was reaffirmed by the negotiating table on July 2, 2019.

The magistrate, based on documentary evidence and the testimony of the chairman of the works council, agreed to dismiss the claim of this employee and considered the suspension of this singular pay adjusted to the law. There was no appeal against this sentence.
