Dubai Autism Center warned against diagnosing autism spectrum disorder based on the symptoms recognized by some doctors and non-specialist care providers in light of misconceptions and inaccurate concepts prevalent in society, where autism spectrum disorder is often confused with learning disorder.

The director general of the center, Muhammad Al-Emadi, said that the “Diagnosis and Evaluation” clinic discovered several cases of children without autism, despite having received reports confirming their affliction, as it was found that they suffer from speech delay, hearing impairment or learning delay, and they cannot express About themselves.

He explained that many clinics specialized in examining and qualifying this category depend on the diagnosis on evaluation by one specialist, during one session, indicating that the diagnosis is not accurate.

Al-Emadi added that the Diagnostic and Evaluation Clinic, which was recently opened by the Dubai Autism Center, depends in the diagnosis on a team that has academic and professional accredited certificates, and it is made up of six specialists, and includes speech, hearing, special education and other specialties, so the reports issued by him on the state of children are comprehensive And a minute, while the clinic previously relied on three or three specialists, to diagnose and evaluate cases of autistic children whose parents wish to register in the center.

He pointed out that the process of diagnosing a child takes from three to four sessions, to ensure autism, adding that the cost of diagnosing and evaluating the case is 4000 dirhams, while other clinics charge amounts starting from 7000 dirhams.

Al-Emadi said that the doors of the Diagnostic and Evaluation Clinic are open to all families wishing to assess the condition of their children, whether they wish to register their children in the center for their rehabilitation, or are planning to register them in other places, inside or outside the country.

A report issued by the Center recently showed the opening of the Occupational Therapy Department, sponsored by the Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), at a cost of 500 thousand dirhams, while the Church of "Holy Trinity" allocated 100 thousand dirhams for the benefit of the center in the framework of the Year of Tolerance Initiatives, and its celebration of the 50th anniversary of its founding.
