“Taking into account the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the experience of other states in connection with the spread of the risk of coronavirus, it was decided to close the state borders between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran on the basis of a restrictive regime from 16:00 (15:00 Moscow time) February 29, 2020 for two weeks, ”RIA Novosti reports.

They specified that the Iranian authorities were informed about this decision.

The Azerbaijan Airlines specified that starting February 29, only Azerbaijani citizens will be allowed on Buta Airways low-cost airline flights in the direction of Tehran-Baku, and Iranian citizens on flights in the opposite direction.

The remaining passengers will be able to return previously purchased tickets at the place of purchase.

Earlier, a Russian and four Iranians were hospitalized in Azerbaijan with suspected coronavirus. All of them came from Iran.

According to the latest data, the number of infected COVID-19 in Iran reached 593 people, 43 of them died.
