It was just after three in the morning on April 16, when the pensioner reacted to the sound of the cellar in the house in western Blekinge. When he went up to investigate, he met two masked men, who immediately attacked with a hammer.

The victim received several blows to the head, body and legs, which led to fractures of the face and skull base. The two perpetrators then searched the property for valuables, forcing the victim's code into the credit card. Before leaving the residence, they pulled down the victim in the basement and tied him to an element with a tow rope.

After a while, the man managed to get away, and go over to a neighbor who could sound the alarm to police and ambulance. He was then taken to hospital, where he was treated for three weeks for life-threatening injuries.

Now the trial in Blekinge district court starts against two men aged 25, who have been charged with attempted murder and gross robbery. Both refuse a crime.

Three days after the brutal robbery in western Blekinge, the two men committed a similar crime in Lund where an elderly man was badly beaten in a home. The robbery duo could be arrested two days later in a stolen car at Kastrup, and for the crime in Lund has been sentenced to just over six years in prison each.
