Japan's Yumi Kajihara won the World Track Cycling Championships in Berlin on Friday.

Kajihara beat talented 20-year-old Italian Letizia Paternoster and Polish Daria Pikulik to claim her first world title at 22.

In this combined Olympic discipline, which offers four different events disputed on the same day, the objective is first of all to make no mistakes at the start to arrive well placed at the start of the last and decisive event: the race for points.

The picture became clear after the scratch, the first event, with the point zero of two of the favorites: the Briton Laura Kenny was caught in a spectacular fall shortly before the finish and the Dutchwoman Kirsten Wild was downgraded.
