The sea and king eagles have been counted in this way since 2004, but the bill started on a small scale as early as 1999.
The eagle count is done by members of the Nature Conservation Society's circles and the ornithological clubs. The Rördrommen field station at Sörfjärden in Sörmland administers the bill.
Today there are about 800 eagle pairs scattered throughout most of Sweden.
