Karlstad University's new campaign to recruit new students was launched during the past week and it didn't take many hours for angry posts to appear on social media.

A large number of people are upset about the new courses that can be applied for the next semester and some go as far as they think that the university seat should be closed down immediately.

But the programs or professions are not really there, which is also evident in the text that the university has published on its website.

Playful campaign

For example, if you click on the heading “Climate fixer” you are linked to a page where you can search for courses as a civil engineer in energy and environmental engineering, the biology program or social analysts.

- We have focused on what one can achieve with their knowledge from a higher education and listened to what young adults, the target group, are interested in. Based on that, we have created a playful campaign, says communications manager Marie Rosenlind Nordensson.
