In 2016, Turkey signed an agreement with the EU aimed at preventing refugees and migrants from accessing Europe in exchange for billion aid. Around 3.7 million Syrian refugees are currently in Turkey and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly threatened to reopen the EU border on migrants.

Now Turkish police, coastguards and border control have been ordered to release refugees and migrants traveling to Europe, Reuters writes, citing its source.

The message comes after 33 Turkish soldiers were killed in an air raid in Syrian Idlib on Thursday night.

Turkey has sent thousands of troops to Syria and Erdogan has previously threatened to launch a full-scale offensive to repel the Syrian forces from the Turkish observation posts in Idlib.
