  • Basque Country Pablo Casado completes Alfonso Alonso and puts Carlos Iturgaiz as a candidate to preside over the Basque Country

The president of the PP, Pablo Casado, has accompanied for the first time the candidate for lehendakari Carlos Iturgaiz in a symbolic act in Ermua, the town of Miguel Ángel Blanco. Casado has lashed out hard against the PNV in the first act of the Basque pre-campaign in which he has endorsed Iturgaiz, which he described as the "only counterweight to sectarian nationalism" of the party of Iñigo Urkullu and Andoni Ortuzar.

Casado recalled the case of Miguel , which ended with convictions of several former leaders of the PNV of Alava but also the one that is now being investigated with public contracts with the Montai company. Casado, who will go to the Ermua neighborhood most punished for the collapse of the Zaldibar landfill, has confirmed that the PP will require an investigation commission when the new legislature begins in the Basque Country.

The leader of the PP has highlighted Javier Sánchez, councilor of the PP in this Biscayan town, and militants of the PP in Ermua who already were when Blanco was kidnapped and killed. Casado has valued the hard political experience of Carlos Iturgaiz who had to bury 7 seasons at a time when the opposition was escorted and the Government was not.

"They try to hide the reality that the PNV is not an honest party," Casado said before the existence of "very serious cases of corruption." The president of the PP wanted to start the electoral campaign in Euskadi because it is the best place to "claim the democratic memorandum of Spain" and has repeated his personal and political harmony with Iturgaiz just four days after Alfonso Alonso confirmed his resignation as president of the Basque PP and its goodbye to politics.

Before leaders very close to Alonso like Iñaki Oyarzábal, Casado has contextualized the agreement with Cs on the need to give "a generous response to go united with constitutionalism" recalling the precedent of Navarra Suma who won the elections in the regional community and governs the City Council from Pamplona.

Casado wants to place Iturgaiz as the "only alternative" against Urkullu before the elections on April 5. "The only alternative to Urkullu is Iturgaiz, the only one to sectarian nationalism," said Casado during his speech at the headquarters of the PP in Ermua with the image of Miguel Ángel Blanco. Married, in addition, has rejected both the transfer of Social Security that the Government of Sánchez has begun to negotiate with the Urkullu Executive and that of the Prisons.

Carlos Iturgaiz also wanted to highlight the "emotions and feelings" generated by the memory of the PP councilor killed by ETA in his first public act as a candidate for lehendakari. "The Basque PP is at your service", said Iturgaiz after the internal tension experienced with the pulse maintained by Alfonso Alonso with the direction of the PP for the elaboration of the electoral lists with Citizens in Euskadi facing the general elections of the 5th of April. "What better way than to be all united before the next elections", stressed Iturgaiz who has defended the existence of a "project that defends the freedoms and the unity of Spain". A "political space" that, according to Iturgaiz, "only occupies the PP today."
