Elections in Guinea: the ECOWAS renounces the deployment of an observation mission

This was RFI information published this Thursday, February 27: the ECOWAS canceled a mission to Guinea. Indeed, a delegation of four heads of state of the organization could not go as it wished to the Guinean president. Information confirmed by a press release from the organization.

This mission " of goodwill, " said the press release, led by Mahamadou Issoufou, President-in-Office of the ECOWAS, accompanied by his counterparts from Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Ghana notably aimed to meet this Friday Alpha Condé. But the Guinean president put forward, explains the organization, certain commitments and constraints related to the electoral calendar.
We also learn in this press release that the ECOWAS has given up on deploying an election observation mission. The reasons given point to " the existence of certain factors which suggest that the situation on the spot is not free from all risks ", in the words of the press release.
