Cycling race suspended due to coronavirus infestations in Abu Dhabi - Jaakko Hänninen was one of the tested

A major international Worldtour professional cycling race in UAE Tour Abu Dhabi was suspended due to two confirmed coronavirus infections. It was announced late Thursday.

- Two members of a service team of an Italian participating team have been tested and found coronavirus, the event reported on their Twitter account.

All participating teams, maintenance, media and organizers were tested for infection during the night and morning. 140 cyclists participated in the competition. Cycling club TWD-Länken tells about this.

The organizers have declared their readiness to enter into quarantine.

The Finnish rider Jaakko Hänninen is also among those tested. In addition, the Finnish team Jussi Veikkanen is the team leader of the French team Groupama - FDJ.

The UAE Tour was set to last until Saturday. Five stages of the seven stage race were run and thus two stages will not be run.

By Friday morning, over 82,500 cases of coronavirus infections had been detected worldwide. There were 2,810 deaths. In Italy, particularly in northern Italy, the situation is most serious in Europe.
