Among the new confirmed cases of Covid-19 announced Thursday evening, are four soldiers stationed at the Creil air base, in Oise. It was from this military installation that the planes left for the repatriation of the French from Wuhan. However, at this stage of the investigation, there is nothing to prove that there is a link between the two.

Does patient zero, the source of the first French coronavirus death, come from the Creil military base? The question is topical since four of the 12 new cases of contamination of this department were detected there Thursday evening. Infections which participated in the jump in the French assessment, which went from 18 to 38 proven cases of coronavirus in 24 hours.

Military crew tested negative twice

These new cases question all the more that it is from this air base that the soldiers left to repatriate the French from Wuhan, at the end of January. However, the four infected soldiers are not part of the crew who went to recover the French, but remained on the military base.

As for the crew, he took off from Creil in the direction of Wuhan before bringing the French expatriates back to Istres, where there is a military installation which made it possible to set up a rapid link with Carry-le-Rouet, where took place the quarantine. The crew then returned to Creil, where it was tested. Even if this test is negative, it is quarantined.

Another disturbing element: none of the Wuhan returnees placed in quarantine in Carry-le-Rouet were detected positive. It is therefore a priori impossible that they transmitted the virus to one of the members of the military crew. Especially since the latter was again tested after the announcement on Thursday evening, a test which again turned out to be negative. However, the quarantine of these men has not yet been lifted.
