The giant slalom and the Ofterschwang slalom (Germany), initially scheduled for March 7 and 8 for the Ladies Alpine Skiing World Cup but canceled on Thursday by the International Ski Federation (FIS), will not be rescheduled, announced Friday the FIS.

"Despite all the efforts, it is not possible to find a place to reschedule the races originally scheduled at Ofterschwang on March 7 and 8," said FIS on Friday evening.

The Alpine Skiing Ladies' World Cup therefore has only nine races left: two at La Thuile in Italy this weekend, three at Are in Sweden on March 12, 13 and 14, and four for the finals at Cortina d'Ampezzo during the week of March 16 to 22.

The Italian Federica Brignone took the top of the general classification in Crans-Montana (Switzerland) on Sunday, with a 73 point lead over the American Mikaela Shiffrin, triple holder of the big crystal globe but far from the tracks since the death of her father Jeff (65) on February 3. The Slovakian Petra Vlhova, present at La Thuile this weekend, is 159 points behind Brignone.
