- If I don't have peace and quiet it can get pretty messy and I can't concentrate on the information, says Elvin Lundberg in grade 5.

The statistics come from the School Survey conducted by the School Inspectorate once per semester to review the country's schools.

- Studiero is crucial to the results, and it makes learning difficult and the opportunity to reach the goals if you can't focus, says Jesper Antelius, head of the analysis unit at the School Inspectorate.

The school environment must be characterized by a study atmosphere

The School Act says that education must be designed so that all students have a school environment characterized by security and study. But despite this, and despite the fact that the School Inspectorate's question year after year shows lack of study, it does not improve in the country's schools.

- You can see that this is an area that is relatively stable over the years. It is very sad that this is so, says Jesper Antelius.

In the clip we visit Elvin's class and hear Jesper Antelius at the School Inspectorate answer the question if the school is a good environment for learning.

"Peace and quiet in the classroom"

But there are also positive examples where the majority of students in a class experience a lack of study.

So it is in Elvin Lundberg's class.

- There is peace and quiet in the classroom. We have discussed it in class councils and student councils and talk about it sometimes. That we should not disturb each other.

According to the School Inspectorate, no clear pattern can be seen regarding the type of schools or places that have problems with a troubled study environment. Without it, the country looks very different and, according to Jesper Antelius, depends largely on the people who work at the school.

- It is difficult to claim that we have an equal school when this is the case, says Antelius.
