When the Great Patriotic War began, Zoya Pavlovna Romanenko was sixteen. Near Leningrad, she experienced the worst winter of the blockade. Father died of starvation in her arms. Behind him is mom and grandmother. Zoya Pavlovna attended the Red Cross courses and became a nurse in a military field hospital. Together with the Red Army, she went through the whole war, and met victory in Germany.
