Police and an ambulance were alerted to the apartment building in a location outside Karlskrona during the night of July 11. On the spot was found an already deceased woman who was immediately taken to hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

A relative of the woman, a now 56-year-old man, was arrested in connection with the death, and was later arrested on probable cause for murder.

"Completely inexplicable"

Several friends and acquaintances of the dead woman and the suspected perpetrator tell SVT News Blekinge that the news came as a shock.

- To me it is incomprehensible. It was definitely not something that was noticed that something was not right. It's completely inexplicable, says a friend.

- It came completely unexpectedly. I have known both of them for a long time, and I did not feel that anything was strange, says another acquaintance of the two.

Prosecution is brought - motif picture clear

On Thursday morning, charges are now being filed against the suspected 56-year-old, for murder. The investigation has shown that the woman was strangled to death, and Prosecutor Malin Niklasson says there is a clear motive picture.

- Based on the interrogations that have been held with relatives and acquaintances, we have been given an overall picture of a possible motive. But I do not want to go into what it is, the prosecution must show, she tells SVT.

Two of the woman's relatives say, via the plaintiff's attorney, Carolina Sandekjer, that the time since the incident has been a nightmare and that they support the prosecutor's decision to prosecute.

"They are of the opinion that the police have made a very thorough preliminary investigation, and they believe that the evidence presented to them makes it correct by the prosecutor to bring charges against the man," says Carolina Sandekjer.

The suspected 56-year-old has denied crime throughout the investigation.
