According to reports, the Tokyo Marathon is planned to be held on March 1. Previously, considering the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the race organizer "Tokyo Marathon Foundation" decided to cancel the qualification of about 38,000 ordinary participants.

Due to the decrease in the number of contestants, the organizer also decided to significantly reduce the number of volunteers for this competition. According to reports, a total of about 10,000 people were originally selected as volunteers at this conference, but after the adjustment, only about 900 volunteers originally planned as team leaders were retained.

In addition, in order to prevent direct contact between volunteers and players, volunteers can no longer send water to the participants halfway through, and only need to undertake the finishing work along the runway.

On February 17, the Tokyo Marathon released an announcement on its official website entitled "To the runners of the Tokyo Marathon 2020". The announcement explained that due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the organizing committee decided to cancel the competition for the public runners and only retain the elite events.
