Magnus Carlsson, one of the authors of the research study "Eliminated due to age - age discrimination in recruitment" explains the reasons why people as young as their 40s are rejected in the labor market. Clearly, this is not a lack of skills.

- The experimental methods we have used in this study clearly show that it cannot depend on the competence. It is clear that this is about age discrimination, says Magnus Carlsson, associate professor of economics at Linnaeus University.

Magnus Carlsson points out that it is difficult to measure age discrimination, but he also wants to raise the issue to a political level because he believes that the problem affects the Swedish labor market both in the short and long term.
