Per-Sylve had one and a half meters of water in the basement when Lagan rose sharply this weekend.

Since then, the pumps have been running around the clock. There is still some decimeter on the concrete floor. It has been pushed in from the ground, but it also bubbles up from the drain.

- I think it's too poor capacity at LBVA, he says.

Want LBVA to stand for the excess

He and several other homeowners affected by water entering the back via the sewer system are now considering demanding compensation from the municipal water and sewerage company.

- If the deductible becomes SEK 10,000 as part of the flood, they must account for it, says Per-Sylve, who estimates that the total damage amounts to SEK 20,000-30,000.

LBVA anticipates requirements

Mattias Hultin, head of department at Laholmsbuktens VA, also expects compensation claims from affected homeowners.

- Yes, it always does in the event of flooding and it is something that is handled by our insurance company and the homeowners' insurance company among themselves, says Mattias Hultin.

He also says that Laholmsbuktens VA will review the pipes and pumps to see if they can better prepare for this type of extreme situation in the future.

His tip to homeowners in affected areas is to put a backwater stop on their sewer line so that it can be turned off completely against the municipal sewerage network.
