The opposition in the Mallorcan town hall of Pollença has demanded explanations for the "denigrating treatment of women" that they said could be seen at the carnival party show last weekend.

It was Friday night when, during the masquerade organized by the town hall tent, two djs from the island were hired to encourage the organized party for the benefit of a charity. One of them, Oscar Romero, included in his 'set' the participation of a young woman who, around half past one in the morning, made an erotic 'show' somewhat upturned.

From United Podemos and other left-wing parties understand that the scene was not typical of a place where they were "children and youth of the town", and regret that, in his opinion, the "figure of women" was banalized, showing it as a sexual object and thus reinforcing the sexist stereotype . "

The podemites explain that the "unfortunate" events in the Port de Pollença and financed with public resources "cannot be tolerated in a public administration committed to equality." In addition, they affect the fact that the images have been posted on social networks "without looking or shame," which they say serves to normalize "what should not be normal in the 21st century."

The politician responsible for carrying out the hiring, the councilor Andrés Nevado, has already publicly apologized, despite maintaining that he never knew of the existence of a show of these characteristics and although he does not understand that the image of women , with whom he photographed at the beginning of the night, denigrate her or the female gender as a whole. "The dance could have its mischievous and erotic moment, but it never denigrated the woman," says the mayor, surprised by the political use that has been made of that dance, but that impacts on excusing himself before who "may have felt offended" .

The podemites maintain that the Area of Equality must be transversal and promote "policies of equality and eradication of sexism in its multiple forms" , something that clashes, they say, with the hiring and financing of this type of spectacles. "You can not understand how from this area, which is taken by the councilwoman Bianca Aguilar, is intended to work and advance in equality, while his party partner Andrés Nevado paddles in the opposite direction," concludes the statement of United Podemos.
