The two women are in their 30s and come from a European and African country respectively. Their Internet ad about the sale of sexual services to customers in the Sundsvall area was discovered by police detectives on Tuesday.

- We could see on one of the internet sites that are used quite frequently for sex trafficking that these two women were in Sundsvall and that they offered their services. We could also see that they have also recently been operating in Östersund, ”says Henrik Blusi.

Internal tension

Through internal investigations, the police found that the business was conducted in an apartment at an address in central Sundsvall - a private home that was rented out for overnight stays, so-called Airbnb.

Do you suspect that the apartment owner is somehow involved in this?

- No. We think they may not even know what was going on, says Henrik Blusi.

admitted

A response group was quickly assembled during Tuesday afternoon, and after scouting for the apartment, a strike was made late in the evening.

A sex purchase had just taken place and the police could arrest a 20-year-old man who is now suspected of buying sexual services. Something that usually leads to fines but can also give up to one year in prison.

"He has admitted the circumstances, but does not say that buying sex is illegal," says Henrik Blusi.

"Optional"

The two women came to Sweden a couple of weeks ago.

What did they say in interrogation?

- That they come here voluntarily and on their own initiative. We do not think that they themselves have organized this trip here. But they are not willing to participate and tell us how it all went.

Police: Widespread operations

Do you think there is any "superior" here?

- We are convinced of that. The women do not have access to the ads themselves online, but someone else makes sure they are there. And there is also someone else booking the accommodation for them.

How common is this type of business at present in this region?

- Several ads of this type are published every week in different locations in Norrland. Sometimes in Västernorrland, sometimes in Jämtland or in Västerbotten. So yes, it is ongoing, says Henrik Blusi.
