A young woman, a sailor on a tanker tanker who was escorting the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, had a fatal fall from his hotel in Cyprus on Monday. It fell from the fifth floor of the building, according to the spokesperson for the French Navy.

The events occurred in Limassol, in the south of the island, during a stopover. Cypriot police are investigating a possible "unnatural death", but believe that it is not of criminal origin and that it is probably an "accident".

The identity of the unknown victim

"The young woman was on the balcony with friends and it appears that she fell," said a police spokesperson. The police did not disclose the identity of the young victim.

The French carrier strike group is currently stopping in Cyprus after a three-week deployment in the eastern Mediterranean. The aircraft carrier and its escort must return to sea in the coming days in order to reach the Atlantic, via the Strait of Gibraltar.
