According to foreign media reports, on the 24th local time, a New York court ruled that the well-known Hollywood producer Weinstein was convicted of two sexual assaults and his sentence will be announced in March. However, shortly after the verdict was announced, Weinstein was transferred to hospital for medical treatment.
According to reports, earlier on the 24th, a jury convicted Weinstein of third-degree rape and first-degree wrongdoing. He was immediately sent to prison.
His lawyer initially stated that Weinstein would be sent to a medical unit on Ricks Island, New York's main prison complex, for medical supervision. But Weinstein spokesperson Yoda Engelmayer later confirmed that his ambulance was re-sent to Bellevue Hospital.
His lawyer, Donna Rotono, said Weinstein was admitted to the hospital because of high blood pressure and said "he was fine." It is currently unclear when he will leave.
In addition, Rotonow and another lawyer, Arthur Adara, earlier said that they planned to appeal the court's verdict on Weinstein.
