The ECOWAS delegation estimated Monday afternoon that the electoral process that led to the February 22 poll had " proceeded without major incidents ". A process that " all in all took place in peace and in accordance with electoral law ," said Francis Béhanzin, Commissioner for Political Affairs of the ECOWAS, who participated in this mission led by former Sierra Leonean President Ernest Bai Koroma.

This institution had deployed 79 observers in the five regions of the country to observe a poll which took place in more than 9,300 polling stations.

The African Union mission congratulated “ the people, the government, the political actors and all the stakeholders for the good holding of the ballot. This delegation also did not witness serious incidents.

However, it should be noted that the AU mission addressed some recommendations to the CENI and to the government, in particular regarding the financing of the candidates' campaigns.

Finally, the two observation missions called on the candidates to use the legal remedies in case of dispute over the results. A message sent there directly to Agbéyomé Kodjo, who since Sunday disputes the results proclaimed by the CENI .
