The Presidency of the Republic of Egypt declared a state of mourning throughout the republic for a period of three days, in mourning of the death of the former President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, as of Wednesday, February 26, 2020, according to what was published by the spokesperson for the presidency through his page on the social networking site "Facebook".

The Egyptian presidency had issued a previous statement, in which it said: “The Presidency mourns with great sadness the former President of the Republic, Mr. Hosni Mubarak, for what he presented to his homeland as one of the leaders and heroes of the glorious October war, as he assumed command of the Air Force during the war that restored dignity and pride to the Arab nation.”

The statement continued: "The Presidency of the Republic extends its sincere condolences and condolences to the family of the deceased who passed away this morning, Tuesday, February 25, 2020."
