On Monday night, a memorial ceremony for basketball player Kobe Bryant in Los Angeles unleashed emotions.

The Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles was filled with great emotions Monday night as the Los Angeles Lakers home arena hosted a massive memorial ceremony in honor of basketball legend Kobe Bryant.

On January 26, Bryant and eight other people died in a crash when a helicopter carrying them crashed into a mountain wall west of Los Angeles. Among the dead were a helicopter pilot and Bryant's 13-year-old Gianna daughter.

One of the most touching moments of the memorial ceremony was seen when Kobe Bryant's widow Vanessa Bryant stepped on stage to commemorate her late husband and daughter. Vanessa Bryant openly told the 20,000-strong audience about the romantic dimension of the couple, and spared no words when praising Kobe as her husband and father.

- I want my daughters to remember how great a personality, husband and father he was. He was a man who wanted to teach future generations to be better and not to repeat his own mistakes.

- I didn't see him as a celebrity or an incredible basketball player. He was my dear husband and great father of our children. She was everything to me ... and loved me more than I could put on words, Vanessa said and couldn't hold back her tears.

Basketball legend Michael Jordan burst into tears as he recounted that Kobe was fully engaged in what he was doing.

- As a basketball player, business man, storyteller, father, and in life as a whole, Kobe left nothing in store, he left everything on the field.

- And I think he would want us to do that too. None of us knows how much time we have left. That's why we have to live in an instant.

- When Kobe Bryant died, some of me also died, Michael Jordan said while wiping away the tears.

Neither did weep for presenter Jimmy Kimmel, who said she was moved by the fact that there are pictures of the late Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant everywhere. The sudden death of a basketball star and other wrecked helicopters has been widespread.

- I've been trying to think of something positive from this situation. It has been difficult because there is not much positive. The best thing I could come up with is gratitude.

"We can all be thankful for the time we had with them and the time we have with each other," Kimmel said.

Several of the world stars on stage were responsible for the more entertaining presentation of the event. Beyonce performed her hit song XO and encouraged the audience to sing along.

- I'm here because I love Kobe and this was one of his favorite songs.

Christina Aguilera, on the other hand, performed Ave Maria with a touch.

As Alicia Keys performed the Beethoven Moonlight Sonata descended into the multi-purpose arena of thousands of people, stopping silence that seemed to condense the ultimate message of the event.
